The Mind, the Self, & the Space Between

Your Mind Is Designed to Keep You Safe — Not Happy

Your mind’s primary job is survival.
That means it’s constantly scanning for danger, working to keep you safe — not necessarily fulfilled.

Sometimes, this internal alarm system switches on even when there’s no real threat.
And it can stay active long after the danger has passed.

Your mind isn’t broken.
It’s simply wired to protect you.

Stress Isn’t About Your Current Situation

Stress doesn’t come from what’s happening right now.
It comes from how your mind interprets what’s happening — whether it perceives something as a threat.

Past experiences can feel like they’re happening in the present moment, even when they’re long gone.
Becoming aware of this is the first step toward freedom.

The Mind & Perception

Pain and emotion are shaped by perception, not just by events themselves.

  • If someone pinches your arm, it hurts because your mind interprets it that way.

  • If your arm is numbed, that same pinch won’t register as pain.

Your perception literally shapes your reality.

Globs in the Sand: Unprocessed Experiences 🏖️

Unresolved experiences — what we might call “globs” — stay stored in the mind and body.

  • The brain interprets these as if the event is happening now, about to happen, or just happened.

  • This keeps your system on constant alert, draining your mental energy — like having too many browser tabs open.

Recognizing these “globs” is the beginning of releasing them.

Conscious vs. Subconscious: Speaking Different Languages 🗣️

  • The conscious mind is logical, creative, and future-focused.

  • The subconscious mind is primal, protective, and doesn’t understand time.

When these two parts miscommunicate, inner conflict arises.
Integration is the key to harmony.

The “I” vs. “Self” Split ⚖️

You might notice thoughts like:

  • “I just need to stop sabotaging myself.”

  • “I’m my own worst enemy.”

  • “If only I could motivate myself.”

These reveal a divide between the conscious and subconscious — between the “I” and the deeper Self.

True calm and clarity come from bridging that divide.
When your “I” and your “Self” move together, you return to inner alignment — and peace naturally follows.
